SAW Video is pleased to announce the launch of VideoCity, a year-long celebration of outstanding media art from the Ottawa-Gatineau region, past and present. As the Arts Court re-development project draws nearer, and not just SAW Video but the entire face of downtown art and culture prepares for dramatic changes, now more than ever we should take stock of the tremendous talent and creativity all around us. For the entire year of 2014, every one of SAW Video's programming events will put the spotlight on a different local media artist or artists, showcasing the diversity and innovation that drives this community.

Upcoming VideoCity highlights include:

ABCDelevision: The Videos of Dennis Tourbin (March 20th), a tribute to the late artist and community organizer whose work was at the center of the 1995 National Gallery censorship scandal and is currently featured in a major retrospective at CUAG.

A memorial for beloved member Ed Folger (May 1st), who left us in 2013, which includes a screening of his ground-breaking film Nanook Taxi, the first feature ever made in Inuktitut.

Sound/Tracks (August 1st), a unique commissioning project where media artists will be teamed up with local bands to collaborate on an entirely new 15 minute-long audiovisual spectacle.

A media art installation at the Plaza Bridge underpass for Nuit Blanche Ottawa-Gatineau (September 20th);  Free Spin (November 6th), an "open mic" for video where community members can bring their works in hand, and a new edition of Feedback (Dec. 2nd), our interactive artist talk series, featuring Pixie Cram and Maayke Schurer.
