The Available Light Screening Collective in collaboration with the Images Festival (Toronto) presents Toronto filmmaker Robert Lee's Minima Moralia (90 minutes, 2005). A bit of a mythic recluse in the Canadian art world, Robert Lee made series of enigmatic videos before withdrawing them (and himself) from circulation at the turn of the new millennium. Commissioned by
the Images Festival and Charles Street Video, Lee revisited and re-edited much of his existing work resulting in a piece that is at once a retrospective and a remix. Drawing from material made over a fifteen year period, Lee's eloquent and enigmatic monologues will connect with all connoisseurs of life's casually encountered profundities the sour nights when every song on the radio was the worst way I could think of to ask for what I did not yet know how not to want.

Robert Lee will be present at the screening to talk about his work.

Initiated by Milada Kovacova, the Minima Moralia was first presented at the 2005 Images Festival and has since travelled throughout North America, and to Europe and Asia, including Image Forum (Tokyo), Anthology Film Archives (New York City), and Kino Arsenal (Berlin).

The Available Light Screening Collective (AL) is a volunteer, not-for-profit group of Ottawa-based media artists and curators committed to the exhibition of experimental films and videos in the National Capital Region.
