Could you create a hit Canadian TV series? Winnipeg - The National Screen Institute - Canada is calling for applications from talented Canadian writer/producer teams ready to develop their television series idea through the NSI Totally Television training program. NSI Totally Television is a market-driven, rigorous and individualized training program that allows working professionals to fine tune their projects over a 10 month period. The course starts with an intensive boot camp in the fall and ends with projects being pitched at the Banff World Television Festival in 2008. Apply for the program by May 15, 2007, 4:30 p.m. Central Time. Guidelines and an application form are available at: www.nsi-canada.ca/totallytelevision/registration.shtml "We're looking for writers and producers who are poised to create hits for the scripted television industry in Canada and around the world. We're looking for the best!" said Kit Redmond, NSI Totally Television Program Manager. "What sets the NSI Totally Television training program apart from others, like all programs at the National Screen Institute, is the way it connects people and builds relationships that are key to the development of the participants' projects." Kit is the executive producer of From the Ground Up with Debbie Travis and executive producer of Maxed Out. Since NSI Totally Television began in 2002, graduating teams have entered production deals with broadcasters such as CHUM, CTV and YTV. Two pilot projects have aired on CBC and APTN and another has recently been produced for Global: * Wapos Bay - There's No 'I' in Hockey by producer Anand Ramayya and writer Dennis Jackson (NSI Totally Television 2002-2003), won the Canada Award at the 21st Annual Gemini Awards, Best Short Drama at the 2005 ImagineNATIVE Media Arts Festival and Best Children's Production at the 2006 Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival. * This Space For Rent, a pilot by producer Jason James and writer Nick Citton (NSI Totally Television 2002-2003) was broadcast on CBC in January 2006. The series has been green-lit for more episodes. * Da Kink (formerly Kink in My Hair) by producer Damion Nurse and writers Trey Anthony and Ngozi Paul (NSI Totally Television 2004-2005) has just gone into production with Global and will air in fall 2007. NSI Totally Television has been made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsor CTV and the CTV/BCE Benefits. Additional funding has been provided by Program Partner Telefilm Canada and we also gratefully acknowledge the further support of our provincial sponsor British Columbia Film. The National Screen Institute - Canada, with headquarters in Winnipeg, is Canada's oldest nationally-recognized film and television training school. The National Screen Institute helps emerging writers, directors and producers bring their stories to life to share at home and abroad. Its market-driven programs have led to employment for National Screen Institute graduates by giving them a competitive edge - according to the latest National Screen Institute Alumni Survey, 97% of respondents are working in the industry.

The OFT (www.oft.ca) is working to raise monies to build an old age

OFT is presently raising money to fund the construction project. Ten years
in the making, this feature-length documentary was filmed during a remarkable
nine journeys throughout Tibet, India and Nepal. CRY OF THE SNOW LION
brings audiences to the long-forbidden "rooftop of the world"
with an unprecedented richness of imagery... from rarely-seen rituals
in remote monasteries, to horse races with Khamba warriors; from brothels
and slums in the holy city of Lhasa, to magnificent Himalayan peaks
still traveled by nomadic yak caravans. The dark secrets of Tibet's
recent past are powerfully chronicled through riveting personal stories
and interviews, and a collection of undercover and archival images never
before assembled in one documentary. A definitive exploration of a legendary
subject, TIBET: CRY OF THE SNOW LION is an epic story of courage and

SMASH DJ BEARwitness
and VJ Daisy Artengine presents SMASH - a speed driven evening of audio-visual performance mash-ups. Each of these unique audio-visual performances will bring a fresh heart pounding aesthetic to their cinematic acts of cultural subversion. Beyond cross-fading between a few fancy remixes, this evening promises to pound pop into a new immersive presentation of intelligent dance music and broken video beats. After years of casual collaborations, Jacob Hanna and Chris Ikonomopoulos have focused their energy on the creation of a dark and atmospheric performance. This brooding work draws on drum n' base and glitch influences, mixed with the meaningless aural landscape of scientific language, to create a sparse and intense composition. From remixes of hip-hop and rock n' roll classics to smash-ups of Rockstar Games and B-Movie horror flicks, Tasman Richardson performance will take the audience on an unrelenting subliminal critique of inconceivable connections in popular media. This is cultural conspiracy theory at 160 beats per minute. To round off this audio-visual speed walk DJ BEARwitness and VJ Daisy will serve up a dance-able digest-able reflection on the mash-up. Like an expensive digestif this pair will cleanse your palette and send you back into the world refreshed and invigorated. Please join us for a unique evening of pop perversions and musical montages as these artists shape the mainstream into a new cultural flow.
