48 with 24 That’s 48 minutes with the Director and Executive Producer of one of today’s most successful television dramas “24” ! Ottawa-Gatineau Film & Television (OGFT) is pleased to announce the launch of its Luncheon Speaker Series, starting with Emmy award-winning director and Executive Producer of 24, Jon Cassar, on Thursday June 7th, 2007. Jon is a native of the Ottawa-Gatineau region and a graduate of Algonquin College. He will discuss his careerpath and his various production experiences in major centers such as Toronto, Vancouver and L.A. and will relate them back to the Ottawa-Gatineau industry. A question-and-answer period will follow. Jon spent his formative professional years in Ottawa- Gatineau and had a full background working as a Director of Photography, camera operator and steadicam operator on over 35 movies, and 70 television shows, videos and spots before becoming a director. Jon Cassar is in his seventh season as the Director/Executive Producer of Fox’s Emmy and Golden Globe-winning drama “24”. In this capacity he directs six to 10 episodes each season while helping to oversee other production-oriented elements of all the show’s 24 episodes. Mr. Cassar’s strengths in orchestrating action sequences paired with directing dramatic scenes serve him well in “24’s” high action and intense drama format. Before
working on “24”, Mr. Cassar shot the television pilots and
several season episodes of the popular La Femme Nikita, Mutant X, Sheena:
Queen of the Jungle and Queen of Swords. Other directing credits include
episodes of popular TV shows such as Profiler, Due South, Dead Zone,
Forever Knight, Street Time, and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. Mr.
Cassar received dual Emmys for directing 24 (2006) and producing 24
(2006) for its Fifth Season. As a director, Mr. Cassar received a DGA
award (2006) for 24. He has been nominated for Canada’s Gemini
Award for directing La Femme Nikita. Also, Mr. Cassar is the author
of “24: Behind the Scenes” a photography book of 24 the
