WORLD INTER-ACTION MONDIALE CELEBRATES WITH ROGERS AT THIS YEAR'S 4'TH ANNUAL ROGERS HOLIDAY MOVIE MATINEE

On Saturday December 15, 2007 at 12:30pm, Rogers will partner with World Inter-Action Mondiale (WIAM) for the 4th Holiday Movie Matinee. At this event Rogers and WIAM will host a screening of the internationally celebrated film, The Peace Tree.

At a time when Christmas is pervasive, The Peace Tree stands as a potent reminder of the diverse cultural landscape that makes up our global community. This award winning film is told from a child's perspective, and shares the message of uniting our diverse communities through our rich and vibrant celebrations.

The film tells the story of two little girls, one Muslim and one Christian, who dream of celebrating each other's festivals, Eid and Christmas. When they share their dreams, they are met with resistance from their parents who express their concerns. Through their struggles, they create a unique symbol - the peace tree - a tree that highlights the symbols from all of our cultures and faiths to reflect the beauty of "diversity in unity."

The event will be open to anyone who is interested. Children from various inter-faith and cultural backgrounds have been invited to attend the screening. The goal in hosting this screening is to offer communities to celebrate their differences and to unite families in a common goal to achieve peace at the local, national, and international level.

The screening will take place at Rainbow Cinemas in St. Laurent Mall on Saturday December 15, 2007 at 12:30pm. Tickets to the event are free and can be reserved by calling WIAM at 613-238-4659 or by e-mail at wiam@wiam.ca.

The Rogers donation will support WIAM's up-coming children's festival, AWESOME INDIES. In addition to the film screening, there will be prizes and free popcorn and drinks. Following the screening, there will be a craft-making workshop where the children will be encouraged to celebrate their culture and share their celebrations with others.
