Upcoming Grants for Media Artists Info Session + Workshop

Attention independent media artists and digital artists! Join the Canada Council for the Arts at SAW Video for an information session about arts funding opportunities from the Canada Council for the Arts. This session is specifically designed for individual artists, groups/collectives, curators and critics working in Media Arts (Moving Images and New Media) and Digital Arts.

Topics covered will include an overview of the Canada Council for the Arts 'new funding model overview; setting up profiles; types of project and travel grants; a description of eligible activities; application and final report assistance; information about the Access Support Fund; upcoming deadlines; an overview of application forms;and completing a project grant budget. Please review the EXPLORE AND CREATE grants related guidelines before the session, so Council staff can respond to specific questions you might have.

The bilingual session will be held next Wednesday (August 29) at 6:30PM at our facilities at 2 Daly Avenue. Space is limited and entrance will be granted on a first come, first serve basis, so don't be late! Click here to find out more and join the Facebook event.

Media artists are also encouraged to sign up for an upcoming grant writing workshop with veteran filmmaker and SAW Video alumni Penny McCann on September 8.

The workshop will take emerging film and video makers through the process of applying to art councils and cultural agencies for funding, with a focus on the Canada Council for the Arts' upcoming "Explore and Create" Sept. 12 deadline, the Ontario Arts Councils Oct. 2 Media Artists Creation Projects deadline, as well as the City of Ottawa's upcoming December Arts Funding Program Deadline.
