This workshop is full.

This popular workshop is designed to help media artists represent their projects clearly and concisely. Veteran filmmaker and SAW Video alumni Penny McCann will take emerging film and video makers through the process of applying to art councils and cultural agencies for funding.

Focus for the workshop will be on upcoming grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.  SAW Video's in-house programs will also be discussed, such as SAW Video’s Production Fund, Jumpstart Mentorship program, and First Time Video Grant.

Participants will learn the do's and don'ts of grant writing (aka "Penny's Principles of Grant Writing") and see examples of successful proposals, complete with budgets, schedules, and project descriptions. They will learn about the jury process and how to effectively present support material.

Time will be set aside for one-on-one sessions with Penny to discuss the specific grants that they wish to apply for. This will be a 15-minute session and will provide the opportunity to talk with Penny about a grant you would like feedback on or a future grant you would like to apply for.
