About

This Camera workshop is intended for SAW Video Producing Members who want an opportunity to become more familiar with the Sony FS7 cinema camera and best practices for working in s-log.

First day of class will encompass everything from building the camera (attaching lenses, mounting on a tripod, proper handling), to camera settings, color temperature, and recording formats. The workshop will also cover the pros and cons of different recording formats and the workflows that accompany them. The Camera records in 4K / UHD / HD in a 10 bit 4:2:2 in x-avci or x-avcl files on QXD cards, in either a rec. 709 or s-log colour space. The Camera can also record up to 180 fps in HD and 60 fps in 4K.

The Second day of class will be more hands-on and focus more on understanding s-log, working with LUTs and capturing the best exposure under the best conditions. Students should have previous experience with video making either through production or education.
