Production Kits

Each production kit consists of one camera, one tripod, one microphone, one lighting kit, and one SD monitor. Members are welcome to book extra equipment but please note it will be at additional cost.

Kit #1 Sony PMW-EX1 Full HD XDCAM EX Camcorder (Tapeless) $125.00 / day
The EX1 is a broadcast quality camera with 3x ½-inch CMOS sensors, each with an effective pixel count of 1920x1080 to produce images in full HD resolution. The EX1 is loaded with great features including multiple frame rate recording capability such as 59.94i, 50i, and native 23.98P, as well being 1080i/720P switchable. There is also a choice of a 35Mb/s High Quality mode or a 25Mb/s, HDV 1080i compatible mode. The EX1 is completely tapeless and records onto memory-based SxS cards. We send our EX1 out with 2x 8GB cards and 1x 16GB card, for a total recording time of 100 minutes at highest quality. The EX1 is also bundled with its own Satchler DV4II Fluid Head Tripod and a Dell laptop loaded with the Sony Clip Browser software. Members may add one microphone, and one light kit to the EX1 production kit for $125/day or rent the Camera on its own for $100/day.

Kit #2 Panasonic AG-HPX170P HD Camcorder (Tapeless) $125/ day
The HPX170P is an ultra portable, tapeless, 1080p capable camcorder that records broadcast quality, full resolution HD (DVC PRO HD) onto memory-based P2 cards. Based on the AG-HVX200 series, the lighter HPX170 is fully solid state (no DV mechanism), and comes with a host of enhancements including a new 1/3" progressive 3-CCD 16:9 imager system, and a built-in waveformmonitor and vectorscope. The HPX170 can record in 20 different HD and SD formats - from 1080i, 1080p, 720p to 480i. While in 720p mode 20-step frame rate selection is available from 12 to 60 fps for variable-speed. The HPX goes out bundled with it’s own Satchler FSB6 Tripod system. Members may add one microphone, and one light kit to the HPX 170P production kit for $125/day or rent the Camera on its own for $100/day.

The HVR-V1U has 3x ClearVid® CMOS Sensors and a 14-bit Enhanced Image Processor. The V1U is able to capture images at 1080p24, 1080p30, and 1080 60i. All video is processed at 1920x1080 at 60p in full 4:2: 2, for optimum picture quality. In the 1080 24p mode, the images are scanned at the full 1080 lines, and 2:3 pull down is added and recorded to minidv tape. It has 2 XLR inputs to plug in external microphones as well as having an on board directional microphone The Sony HVR-V1U can also record SD Video in either DV SP or DV CAM modes. Members may add one microphone, one light kit, one tripod, and one field monitor to the V1U production kit for $75/day or rent the camera on its own for $50/day.

Kit #5 HVR-Z1U HDV Mini DV Camcorder $75.00 / day
The HVR-Z1U features 3x Super HAD 1/3" CCDs. These 16:9 native CCDs a high quality 12X Optical Zoom Carl Zeiss Lens and Sony's 14 bit Image Processor, result in an image acquisition which is kow in noise and high in detail and clarity. It has 2 XLR inputs to plug in external microphones as well as having an on board directional microphone. The Z1U records HDV1080i format onto a Mini DV tape. The Sony HVR-Z1U can also record SD Video in either DV SP or DVCAM modes. Members may add one microphone, one light kit, one tripod, and one field monitor to the Z1U production kit for $75/day or rent the camera on its own for $50/day.

Kit #6 Panasonic DVX100 Mini DV Camcorder $75.00 / day
The Panasonic AG-DVX100 was the first camcorder to offer 24 frames per second recording allowing for a more "filmic" look.. It has 3x 1/3-inch, 410,000-pixel progressive CCDs developed specially for broadcast and professional applications. The DVX 100 has an excellent signal to noise ratio and the on-chip lens design achieves high F11 sensitivity, allowing the DVX100 to perform very well in low light situations. The DVX 100 has 2 XLR inputs to plug in external microphones. It records to mini DV tapes in SD. Members may add one microphone, one light kit, one tripod, and one field monitor to the DVX 100 production kit for $75/day or rent the camera on its own for $50/day.

The PD170 can record DVCAM or DV SP format on to miniDV tapes. It features 3x Advanced HAD 1/3 inch CCD's. It has manual Zoom, Focus and Iris control capability The built-in high MTF quality 12X electronic zoom lens features Auto focus and SuperSteadyShot. The PD170 has 2 XLR inputs for external mics.
