SAW's annual 12-week Video Schoolhouse course is designed to provide hands-on instruction and experience at each stage of making a video, from pre- to post-production. Participants will be guided by experienced filmmakers as they work in small groups to complete short video projects from start to finish. Topics covered include treatment, scriptwriting, storyboarding, budgeting, location scouting, managing your shoot, technical training on camera, lighting, and sound equipment, cinematography, aesthetics of editing, and instruction on digital editing with DaVinci Resolve software.
On the last day of the program, the final work produced will be screened on-site at SAW Video. Participants can determine in class whether or not to invite family or friends for this occasion, or to keep the occasion private. This will be an opportunity to see your work on a larger screen and have the instructors and classmates provide feedback on the projects. At the end of the program, participants may retain copies of their final films, and will also be provided with a Video Schoolhouse Certificate marking the completion of the program and confirming the number of hours of video training that they have completed.
This program is geared towards beginner level or first-time filmmakers.

Class Payment and Cancellation Policy: Your enrollment in this course is not guaranteed until payment is received. The course must be paid in full by the deadline date. You may cancel your enrollment in the course 5 business days before the first class without charge. Cancellations made less than 5 business days before the first class will be refunded the full amount of the course, less a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations made after the first class will be refunded the tuition less a $50 cancellation fee and the pro-rated portion of the total tuition for however many classes you have attended. There will be no reimbursements after the third class. The course is subject to cancellation if there are insufficient registered participants. We will notify you regarding cancellation at least one week before the first class. If we cancel the class, you are entitled to a full refund or you may keep credits on your account towards other workshops or equipment rentals.
