Back Story takes place in association with Kind Space, an organization that serves 2SLGBTQ+ communities in
Under the direction of IBPOC and/or 2SLGBTQ+ instructors and mentors, who are professionals in the field of audio/visual production, participants will have the opportunity to conceive, shoot, direct, and edit, short videos. The videos created can be different genres, including documentary, drama, experimental, etc., and the participants can keep digital copies of the final edited videos, which they can then use in a portfolio, on a resume, submit to a film festival, or to further their own audio/visual skills in an academic setting.
Film and video-making often tends to be a white and cis-male-dominated field, and this program seeks to encourage aspiring filmmakers that are IBPOC and 2SLGBTQ+, to learn about film, and to consider it as a potential career choice. SAW Video also seeks to remove socio-economic barriers to training for IBPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ in the technical fields of video production, and to that end, the Back Story: Filmmaking Workshop is free for each participant.
Kind Space will be handling registration for this workshop.
