SAW Video Media Art Centre (Ottawa) seeks a full-time Technical Coordinator (Production) for our busy not-for-profit media arts centre. He/she will work with the Technical Coordinator (Post-production) to provide production and post-production support to SAW Video members. This is a permanent full-time position (37.5 hours per week). 
Established in 1981, SAW Video is Eastern Ontario’s largest and oldest media art production centre.  SAW Video provides many services to artists including affordable access to video production and post-production facilities, grant and mentorship programs, a comprehensive range of workshops as well as screenings and exhibitions. 
Hours of work: 11am - 6pm Tuesday to Friday and 11am – 5pm Saturday.
Starting salary of $33,150 ($17 per hour) with health/dental benefits
The Technical Coordinator will:
  • Be responsible for all aspects of SAW Video’s production equipment, including equipment bookings; pickups/returns; purchases, maintenance and upkeep;
  • Evaluate and ensure the competence of those using the equipment;
  • Prepare invoices for equipment rental, tapes sales, membership renewal, etc.; 
  • Assist in the writing of grants, as well as preparing reports on and requests for equipment purchases as required; 
  • Review equipment in relation to members’ needs, and work with the Technical Coordinator (Post-production), equipment committee and Director to prepare recommendations for future purchases and technical directions of centre;
  • Work with the Director and Technical Coordinator (Post-production) to set annual budgets for equipment purchase and maintenance;
  • Work with staff and board on planning for SAW Video’s new facility in 2017.
The selected individual will have:  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Technical experience in digital video production, specifically with HD cameras, audio, grip and lighting equipment;   
  • Excellent people skills and ability to multi-task;  
  • Hands-on computer experience with knowledge in Windows XP and Mac OSX operating systems, Final Cut Pro and Adobe software products.  
  • Familiarity with the local independent production community;
  • Fluency in English is required; oral and written competency in French is an asset.
