This 2-day workshop is aimed at filmmakers who are looking for a free alternative to Premiere Pro and/or professional video editing software which doesn't necessarily require a high-end machine to
perform well (as does DaVinci Resolve).
Blender is a free and open source software package, best known for its 3D modeling and animation capabilities. However, it also incorporates a very respectable video editor whose interface can be configured to resemble that of Premiere Pro. And it comes with a host of compositing tools as well as camera and object tracking capabilities, similar to those of After Effects.
On day 1 of the workshop, filmmakers will learn how to configure the Blender interface and how to do basic film editing using Blender (importing media, cutting, splicing, crossfades, colour correction, sound editing and rendering). On day 2, participants will learn about some of the additional features of Blender – how to create and animate 3D Text or objects, how to track film footage to match the camera's movement, and how to then composite the 3D text or object into the film.
