Sonia Vani

Sonia Giannina Vani, B.A., B.Ed, M.A., is an artist and communications consultant. Her experience in theatre helped her secure numerous story-editing and on-camera contracts for private production houses (Sound Venture Productions, Pixcom) and public broadcasters like TVO, TFO and Télé Québec. She has a degree in Communications and a Master’s in Media Studies.  Sonia is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers and has developed and implemented a variety of arts and sustainability-minded modules for students from JK-Gr.8. Her experience in education, rooted at first in pedagogy, now extends to andragogy. She develops and delivers public and customized workshops for adult learners in both official languages. Sonia leads and plays an active role in organizing local events featuring musical and spoken word artists and helps promote local arts initiatives. Her interest in ocean conservation has also allowed her to spearhead camps that encourage youth to experiment with emerging tech, pop culture and activism.

Sonia is a continuous learner with a growth mindset. She is involved in leadership and mentorship activities. Currently, she manages a marketing team. She has secured funding from Saw’s Jumpstart and from other granting agencies to produce music videos and short documentaries.  Her volunteering experience includes serving on the CHUO FM 89.1 BOD and a stint as a juror for the Ontario Arts Council.
