Workshops are back! As of January 2018, SAW Video has settled into our new home upstairs in the Arts Court, which is a purpose-built facility that includes an expanded equipment depo, a new media-art gallery, a hub space, an edit suite and an audio-mixing suite, as well as a larger space dedicated for Workshops!
SAW Video presents a range of training and professional development opportunities for media artists, artists in other disciplines seeking to explore video in their work, and anyone interested in learning. Workshops are open to SAW Video members and members of the general public engaged in the creation of non-commercial, independent productions.*
SAW Video members receive discounts on all workshops. For non-members, the workshop fee includes the cost of a basic membership to SAW Video. In addition to hands-on practice during workshops, free access to equipment for follow-up practice is offered on specified post-production workshops.

WORKSHOP SUBSIDY PROGRAM
SAW Video is offering 5 fully subsidized places in workshops over the course of the year. The subsidies will cover 100% of the cost of one workshop as well as a one-year basic membership to SAW Video. This is a great opportunity for low-income emerging or established artists to receive training and become involved in the centre. To apply for the subsidy, please send a brief letter (1 page) describing which workshop you would like to take and why you would benefit from the training as an artist or independent creator. Applicants may wish to identify as low income or state why they are unable to afford the regular cost of a workshop at this time. This program is open both to existing SAW Video members and to the general public.
The deadline for the subsidy is rolling. We will receive requests throughout the year and grant the subsidies on an as-needed basis.
Letters can be dropped off in person to SAW Video during operating hours (10AM-6PM Mon-Fri, 11AM-5PM Sat.) or they may be emailed directly to: email@example.com. We also accept requests by mail. Subsidies carry no cash value. The staff of SAW Video reserves the right to award fewer than 5 subsidies if there is a lack of demand or of applicants who meet the criteria. One subsidy only per person will be awarded. For more information, please contact Lesley Marshall at firstname.lastname@example.org or 613-238-7648.
*Non-commercial, independent productions are productions for which the director retains copyright and artistic control, and for which the production is neither being produced for a client nor for the purpose of advertising or promotion.
