In times of physical distancing, live streaming have become a powerful tool to keep musicians, artists, storytellers, and content creators connected with their fans and contributing to social well-being. This beginner level workshop is designed for artists and everyday content creators from various fields who want to explore new ways to perform and engage with for their audiences by going LIVE on social media. These tools can be an efficient way to expand the reach of your work whenever. But what are the pros and cons of going live on social media instead of uploading another video to your existing channel?

In this session you will learn:

  • How to adapt stage experience to live streaming;
  • What the best platforms to use and identify the ones that are best for you;
  • What you should know before going live, from both production and artists' perspectives;
  • How to promote your live streaming;
  • How to interact and engage with your audience in real-time;
  • What live video metrics mean and how understand and use them to boost your performance;
  • Is it possible to monetize with live streaming?

Instructor

fabiola

Fabiola has an honors degree in communications from the University of Ottawa. She has a decade of professional experience in digital communication. Including work at the International Development and Research Centre, her current leadership position at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Outside of her day job, she serves as director of communications for a local mental health awareness organization and provides her expertise to private entities through her company Sussex New Media.

Instructor

Rafael

Rafael is a Brazilian journalist and digital marketing professional living in Ottawa since 2018. In his home country, he worked for several years as a content creator and digital strategist for TV shows such as "Big Brother" and "The Voice", as well as soap operas and series like "Young Hearts" and "Now Generation", both nominated for the International Digital Emmy Awards. Rafael is also a very active member of the theatre scene in Ottawa, having worked backstage or as a marketing professional for over 15 productions so far. His latest position was as a Projections Designer for the local remount of the jukebox musical "Rock of Ages" at Centrepointe Theatre last March.
