Carole got her start as a media arts practitioner at the Winnipeg Film Group where, and for 20+ years, she was also a member of its board of directors. She is grateful for having the opportunity to make many films, both dramas and experimental projects, all of which have travelled to numerous festivals around the world. To support her filmmaking habit Carole did freelance work: as a reporter for French CBC TV & radio, as a crew member in the film industry and later, as researcher for inner city NGOs. Two years ago, she moved to Ottawa to work in communications for the federal NDP. Carole understands the challenges media artists face in the pursuit of their passion and vision, since she has had to address them all herself. To her, being on the board of SAW is an opportunity to connect with local artists, be of service to them and to an organization she believes in, and hopefully revive her own art practice in the process.
