"Animating Mr. Saint John" is part doc, part mock. It asks what would happen if Loyalist Man truly represented the personality of his city.
Connell Smith worked for 17 years in television news before going on his own. In 1998, he successfully applied for his first grant and traveled to Bulgaria to document the efforts of a Maritime business group attempting to make inroads. He produced, photographed, edited, and narrated the resulting four-part series that appeared on CTV stations in the Maritimes. He has since received funding for two educational documentary projects that are now in production. He has a feature film (Script by Gretchen Kelbaugh) in development and recently co-produced the dramatic short "Cutting Luce" that was selected by the Tidal Wave Film Festival and the Atlantic Film Festival. Connell works part-time as an Associate Producer with CBC Radio in Saint John.
