This workshop is designated as introductory training for media artists as well as artists from other disciplines who would like to explore using video in their work. It is also open to members of the public wishing to create independent video works. This two-day workshop teaches the basics of camera, audio and lighting through hands-on training. On the first day of the workshop, participants will receive basic instruction on SAW Videos High-definition Video Cameras -- such as the Sony FS7, the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, or the Panasonic AC-160.
Participants will be introduced to three-point lighting and dealing with power on location. A variety of sound recording options will be examined, such as handheld mics, lavalier mics, shotgun mics, digital audio recorders, and their applications will be discussed. The second day of the workshop will provide further opportunities for hands-on instruction, as well as shooting exercises that will be indoors and outdoors (weather permitting) simulating varying conditions and situations.
