"If Garvey Was Here" is a 30-minute video on the state of pan-African solidarity in Ottawa around the year 2001. Produced for Jaku Konbit by Jafrikayiti, this documentary features, among others, Dr. Tony Martin, world-renowned scholar on Marcus Mosiah Garvey and the 1920’s United Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). The latter is presented as a model and major inspiration source for Ottawa’s own modern pan-African organization, Jaku Konbit.
