Attention independent media artists and digital artists! Join the Canada Council for the Arts at SAW Video for an information session about arts funding opportunities from the Canada Council for the Arts. This session is specifically designed for individual artists, groups/collectives, curators and critics working in Media Arts (Moving Images and New Media) and Digital Arts.
We'll be closed for the Labour Day long weekend (Saturday September 1 to Monday September 3, 2018) and will reopen on Tuesday, September 4.
Instructors Radamis Zaky and Aia Rafaat and program participants Yousef Silwady and Gabriela Calugay-Casuga were on CBC Ottawa's radio show In Town and Out (91.5 FM) on Saturday, August 18 to talk about the New Voices program. New Voices is a summer video production program for newcomer, refugee, and immigrant youth, offered in partnership with the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization's youth program YOCISO and supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Attention SAW Video members! Have a shoot coming up this week/weekend and need equipment? Make sure to book and pick up what you need by Thursday at 6PM (FYI we close at 6PM, so please don't come in by 5:30PM for a pick up)! The equipment DEPOT will be CLOSED Friday, August 17 to Monday, August 20 (inclusive) and reopening Tuesday, August 21, due to ongoing construction around and in the Arts Court building.
SAW Video be closed Saturday to Monday (August 4-6) for the August Civic Holiday long weekend and will reopen Tuesday (August 7, 2018). Please also be advised that the entrance at 67 Nicholas Street will be unavailable throughout the month of August, due to ongoing construction. During this time members and visitors should use the Arts Court main entrance at 2 Daly Avenue.
SAW Video Media Arts Centre is proud to welcome a new cohort of artists and mentors into the 2018 edition of JumpstART, our longest running grant program. Artists participating in JumpstART 2018 include Rachel Gray, Lynda Hall, Mona Osman, Liliana Reckless, and Jeannette Tossounnian. These emerging media artists will be supported by a group of established media artists and filmmakers, including some former JumpstART participants.The works produced will be presented by SAW Video in the summer of 2019.
SAW Video and Knot Project Space are proud to have presented In Between Remembering, a conversation between with naakita feldman-kiss, Nelly Matorina and Ivanie Aubin-Malo, moderated by Ottawa-based artist, filmmaker and choreographer, Laura Taler. This conversation was presented as part of a series of events that brought together three young artists exploring intergenerational exchange (understood as the processes of learning, modes of relation and collaborative exercises that occur between generations) in their respective practices.

Responding to and utilizing the layout of our current five-channel video installation by naakita feldman-kiss Wednesdays, Before Piano, Aubin-Malo presented an iteration of her performance work Où sont les ancêtres? .
