Register for Back Story: Filmmaking Workshop by October 18th!
SAW Video Media Art Centre is excited to launch the 2019 edition of Back Story, a month long, eight session filmmaking program empowering Indigenous, Black and People of Colour (IBPOC) who identify as 2SLGBTQ+ to share their stories, running from November 2nd to 24th, 2019 in Ottawa, in partnership with Kind Space.
Under the guidance of 2SLGBTQ+ and Queer-friendly instructors and mentors, who are professionals in the field of audio/visual production, Back Story participants will learn to conceive, shoot, direct, and edit, short videos.
Filmmaking often tends to be a white and cis-male-dominated field, and this program seeks to encourage aspiring filmmakers that are IBPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ to learn about filmmaking and consider it as a potential career choice. SAW Video also seeks to remove socio-economic barriers to training for IBPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ in the technical fields of video production and, to that end, the Back Story: Filmmaking Workshop is offered free of charge for each participant.
