SAW Video's Upcoming Outdoor Projection Series to Transform Public Spaces Into Urban Screens

SAW Video and Knot Project Space are proud to announce Knot Projections 2019: Imagining Publics – an extended public projection series taking place at multiple sites throughout Ottawa from July to October 2019.

The series represents the culmination of SAW Video Media Art Centre’s yearlong commissioning program Knot Projections. Funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the program was designed to build capacity for local media artists in Ottawa to realize moving image works that are intended for large-scale projection in public spaces.

Imagining Publics features new works by Hélène Lefebvre, Ryan Conrad, Pansee Atta, Maayke Schurer and Sasha Phipps, respectively.

The cohort of five local commissioned artists have each selected specific surfaces to host their newly created video projections, implicating or acknowledging the preexisting architectures, dynamics, and histories of the sites that surround the edges of their frame. More information available at knotsawvideo.com.

Join us for the first projection in the series on July 27th, featuring a public projection of Hélène Lefebvre's Open Water on the facade of the Les Suites Hotel parking garage on Daly Avenue across from Arts Court (2 Daly Ave) and the Ottawa Art Gallery (10 Daly Ave), from 9pm to 11pm. Open Water will be visible July 27th to August 10th, with a break for the August long weekend (August 3rd-5th), Monday-Saturday 9pm-11pm.
